One of my favorite memories as a child was buying school supplies at the beginning of the year. I would go to the store, teacher’s list of supplies in hand, and stock up. But it didn’t end there! Oh, no! Once I was back home, I would proceed to organize and reorganize my supplies until they were just right! Hey, what can I say? I’m a little OCD (actually, a lot OCD)! Sigh! It’s such a lovely memory! The only thing that I think could have made the experience even more pleasurable, would have been if I had made my school supplies instead. That’s why I’ve put together this list of DIY school supplies that are both minimal and chic. Not only are they all crazy fun (and easy!) to make, but they will also save you a lot of money too.
So, without further ado, let’s get started:
DIY Modge Podge Notebook
This modge podge tutorial teaches you how to personalize your notebook however you’d like. For me personally, I would do something a little more minimal, but I love how the only limit is your own creativity.

I vividly remember trying to sell my textbooks back after my first semester in college. Do you know what? I got hardly any money back. Little did I know that the book buyers hated writing in books and dog-eared pages. Sigh! So be sure to use some super cute bookmarks like these instead.

DIY Gold Leaf Brushed Clipboards
Clipboards, I think, are by definition ugly. So how great is it to have super stylish ones like these? Chelsea, the creator, used gold leaf on her clipboards to give them even more personality and dimension.

How to Craft a Cute Handmade Binder
Back in my day, it was all about the Trapper Keeper, and as cool and colorful as they were, I never really felt like I found one that completely reflected my personality. Here, are steps on how you can make your 3 -ring binder to be however you would like. Awesome!

Printable Quote Pencil Box
Is this printable pencil box the most durable in the world? No, it’s made from paper. But honestly, when I was in school, none of my pencil boxes withstood the test of time. And at the cost of just a few cents for each printing, you can make these over and over and over again.

DIY Photo Strip Scrapbook
I looooove this notebook idea so much! Some days at school are just hard! What better way to get through a difficult day than to have a reminder of how much you are cared for by your parents, friends, significant other, or even pet! The possibilities of who you could include in your photo are endless!

Easy DIY Desk Storage
This is such an amazing upcycle idea! Just take a few cans and some paper, and voila!

DIY Pencil Pouch
Yes, this DIY involves sewing. I know, I know! Sewing is a lost art, but this pencil pouch is so gosh darn cute, I couldn’t help but include it. Not to mention the fact, that I see these for sale on Etsy all the time for over $20!! Now you can make one for yourself for very little money. You’re welcome!

Painted Pencil Craft
These are good ‘ol No. 2 pencils made beautiful! I am pretty sure you already have some yellow pencils laying around your home. So not only can you now have some super cute pencils for school, but you can also save moola by using what you already have!
