I am back again to share my income report, this time from February. I am a little behind in writing these now. Mainly, because I have a very limited time to blog each night, and I have been spending most of my time going through the coursework for Elite Blog Academy. So apologies for the delay.
I love sharing my income report each time, but I am also apprehensive about it too. This income report is for my fourth month of blogging. So, as you can tell, my blog is not very old at all. But I share these reports in an effort to encourage and inspire others. For years and years, I wanted a blog. I used to mention it periodically to my husband, but we were both convinced that bloggers didn’t make money. In fact, we had friends who blogged who hadn’t earned a dime. And then somehow, by some fortuitous chance, I came across one of Abby Lawson’s monthly income reports. At first, I thought, “Wow! She must be in the upper echelon of blogging,” but then as I did more and more research, I found out that she wasn’t! And I discovered something even more important– that she was a completely normal person! A sweet and lovely person, but a normal person all the same. She wasn’t a tech whiz or a Pulitzer Prize winning author. And then something just clicked in my head, and I realized if she could do it, I could too!
So that’s why I post my monthly income reports. No matter how meager or lackluster they may be. Because if there is one thing (or really two things) I want you to take away, it’s these:
1. I am a normal person
2. If I can make money blogging, you can too.
So posting my income reports has been a way of paying it forward. And now on to the numbers…
Total income: $370.14

My Income Strategy
Once again, my primary source of income came from affiliate marketing. Every time I talk about affiliate marketing, I always mention Michelle Schroeder-Gardner. If you’ve been reading all of my income reports, I know what you are probably thinking, “Shut up already about Michelle!” But seriously, I owe her so much because I learned all of my affiliate marketing strategy from her. And if you don’t know anything about Michelle, here’s the details…
She’s the creator of Making Sense of Cents, and she has developed an online course called Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing. I have been watching for a while, mainly because she makes over $100,000 a month blogging. Whaaaatttt?!?!?! It sounds crazy, but it is true! And half of her income comes from affiliate sales (meaning that she earns a commission on the sale of certain items). And her course, Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing, is all about teaching others how to do the same.
Here’s the thing… Michelle’s course content works! I was able to earn an affiliate income within my first 30 days of blogging by implementing what she taught me. And then I made 15x times (fifteen times!!) that my second month. And I am not the only one that her course content has helped. I know of other people who were already earning money blogging, took Michelle’s course, and suddenly found themselves making double or even triple what they were making before. See? She knows what she is talking about.
When I bought Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing, I paid $197. It was totally worth the money. Not only did it teach me how to earn money through affiliate marketing, but it also gave me access to Michelle. I know I’ve said it in income reports before, but I can’t get over the fact that someone as successful as she would want to help me, but she does! And she helps every single person who buys her course. She promotes my work, immediately answers my questions, and basically bends over backward to help me succeed. Plus, when I purchased her course, I also immediately got access to her closed Facebook group. It is filled with people who are just like Michelle, all willing to help each other at the drop of a hat. It is a group of folks I feel so blessed to have met!
Launching My Own Product
In January, I launched my very first product, and so I earned some money through sales. Not very much money, but some.
I am so excited that I have created my own stock photo subscription service called Simply Mama Stock Photos. We provide beautiful, feminine-styled stock photos specifically for mom bloggers and social media influencers who want beautiful feeds that match their niche.
We’ve also done a couple of things to make our photos interesting, exclusive, and accessible:
- For starters, we are not a styled stock library where you gain access to a website and then can download photos. Rather, we send them right to your inbox!
- Each month we produce a new packet of high resolution, social media photos. You have access to the current packet of photos until the next packet is released. It is important that you download your .zip file and save your packet, or it will be gone for forever. In other words, if you join 3 months from now, you don’t get access to the photos from the prior months. This keeps our photos exclusive, and your social media images not looking like everyone else’s.
- We offer a variety of payment options, and you cancel at any time. So you can join, try it for a month, and see if it is right for you. We also offer 3, 6, and 12-month subscriptions that you pay upfront, and the longer the length of your subscription, the more you save. Hooray!
- And so there you have it, my own stock photo service, specifically for mom bloggers. Please make sure to take a look at our website and give us a try. You can even download some free stock photos!
What I Am Doing Differently
There are lots of closed Facebook groups for bloggers. I went a little nuts and joined a lot of them when I first started blogging. Many of these groups offer pin threads or comment threads where you agree to pin someone’s pin on Pinterest if they pin yours in exchange. They are a great way to get other bloggers to your site, but I was beginning to feel like they were a time suck. By the time I got done pinning, stumbling, and tweeting, hours would have passed. I decided to take all of that time and focus it instead on writing and researching. We will see how it pays off.
I still visit Michelle’s Facebook group though. It isn’t filled with nothing but pin for pin threads. It’s more of a support group. You can pop in, ask a question, and get an answer in a matter of seconds. So I don’t feel like I am wasting my time when I am in there.
What I Am Doing Well
I am doing really well on Pinterest. I have gained a great following, and my number of followers and repins continue to increase. I decided to really focus on Pinterest when I started blogging and get it down before going on to the next type of social media. I used Rosemarie Groner’s Pinterest Strategy as a guideline, but here’s the thing… I did what she said to do over and over again, not just once. And it’s working!
Rosemarie sells her Pinterest Strategy through her website, The Busy Budgeter, for $139. But you can get it for FREE when you buy Michelle’s Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing! How awesome is that?
I wanted to say very quickly how appreciative I am of everyone who visits my blog, and how meaningful it is to me. I discovered the Real Time capabilities of Google Analytics, and sometimes I will look to see who is visiting the blog at that exact moment. When I see people reading posts like Three Things I Wish I Had Done Differently While Pregnant, I envision a first-time mom, anxiously awaiting the birth of her baby, reading my post. And it brings tears to my eyes because I love the idea that I am helping someone out there. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being a part of my community.
Well, that’s it; I’ve shared my income report. And now I want to hear from you! Are you a mom blogger? What’s working well for you and what are you going to try to do differently?
